Laziness & AI
AI gives you speed. You still define the quality. Using AI tools makes us faster, but speed does not always mean quality.
Let's talk about Laziness & AI.
Using AI tools, products, and interfaces clearly makes us faster. There is no doubt about that.
But speed does not always mean quality.
What I push back against is not AI itself. What I push back against is laziness.
And laziness needs a clear definition. It is handing over the work without thinking. Producing without making decisions. Letting go of responsibility. ...
Just like any work done with laziness (whether it is cooking, designing, or writing software) the outcome almost always ends up weak.
The difference starts when you treat AI not as a magic tool, but as a work partner.
In real life, you cannot delegate every decision to your coworkers. The same rule applies when working with AI.
Knowing when to guide it, when to question it, and when to make the final call yourself is what actually improves the quality of the work.
AI gives you speed. You still define the quality.
I'll close with a quote I like. I don't know who said this, but it fits perfectly:
"A fool with a tool is still a fool."
✤ P.S. This is not about calling anyone a fool. It's simply a metaphor.
